Who is Redstart Birding?

Redstart Birding was developed by the folks at Bird Watcher's Digest to be a retail source for birders to purchase gear and optics. Redstart Birding brings together years of optics retail knowledge, a dedication to customer service, and birding expertise so you can work hand-in-hand with experts who know and use the gear, know birding, and are bird watchers themselves.

Is my personal and credit card information safe?

Yes. All information provided by the customer to process an order or to communicate in the event of a question or problem concerning your order is strictly confidential. We use the latest secure socket layer (SSL) protocol to encrypt all sensitive credit card and personal information. We have security measures in place that protect the loss, misuse, or alteration of the information that is under our control. Physical security measures include a firewall to protect unauthorized access to our database servers. Access behind the firewall is controlled via passwords. Passwords are stored in one-way encrypted format and are never decrypted.

Can I place an order over the phone?

How long until I get my order?

We ship all orders out ASAP! This usually means that your purchase will be shipped within 1-2 business days, once we receive it. Some orders may ship the same day they are received. Once your order ships, you can expect to get a FedEx or UPS tracking number via email. Express shipping options are available during the checkout process, for an additional fee.

What is your return policy?

Our top priority is to be sure that we meet your needs. We want all the products you purchase from Redstart Birding to be a perfect fit for you. If you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, please return it for a refund or an exchange within 30 days of receiving it. If your purchase is a gift for someone else, they have the same 30-day period from the time they receive it, to exchange it or return it for a full refund. Please note: shipping and handling (S&H) is non-refundable, unless the product was damaged or the wrong product was sent to you. We will also pay the return shipping if the error was ours. In order to receive a full refund, all products must be returned in new condition, including the original packaging and accessories. Returns that are missing accessories, show wear/use, or have missing/damaged packaging are subject to a 10% restocking fee.

Packing and Sending Your Return:

  1. Pack the items along with the packing slip (receipt) securely in a box. Fill out the Return & Exchange form and include with returned products, along with a copy of your invoice. 
  2. Ship the package to:

We recommend that you use a shipper with delivery confirmation to ensure your package is received. We also recommend that you insure your return for the appropriate value. You are responsible for the items being returned to Redstart Birding, until they are delivered to us.

What is the warranty that comes with my optics purchase?

All of the optics we stock at Redstart Birding will come with the manufacturer's full North American warranty. In many cases this will be a limited lifetime warranty. In some instances, warranty coverage goes the extra mile and will cover any damage done to your optics, regardless of the cause (Vortex VIP warranty for example). Any and all warranty services are offered and managed by the manufacturer of the product you purchased. We are happy to facilitate any warranty service on your purchase from Redstart Birding with our suppliers, if you prefer to work directly with us.
